Beginning June 1, 2009, all persons
entering or re-entering the USA by air, land or sea will need acceptable ID. This may be a
passport, passport card, enhanced driver's license or a CBP-issued NEXUS
(Canada), SENTRI (Mexico) or FAST (trucks) card. Air travelers must have
a valid passport.
We recommend that all travelers between
Canada and the USA obtain a NEXUS card for themselves and all potential
fellow-travelers, including family members and business associates. Why?
Because it defines you as a "Trusted Traveler", and also provides
access to the "commuter lanes" when/where available. We also
recommend having a valid passport in most cases, although a passport alone does
not define one as a "Trusted Traveler".
